Oral and Dental Care for Holistic Health

“74% of Turkey Doesn't Brush Their Teeth”

Every year, dental associations or chambers of professional groups conduct oral and dental health profile and situation analysis studies in Turkey at various times. Research conducted in the last days of 2019 revealed a dire picture of oral and dental health in Turkey.
• 7 out of 10 people do not brush their teeth.
• Toothpaste does not enter 50% of households.
• There is only 1 toothbrush for every 4 people.

So why is this statistic important to us today in July 2020? We are trying to protect ourselves from the risks of getting viruses through the mouth, nose and eyes in the coronavirus epidemic that affects the world and is still in danger. While paying attention to social distance and general isolation rules, we also care about our personal hygiene at the highest level. What about our oral health?
Our society does not show the necessary importance to oral and dental health, as the studies conducted just a few months before we encountered COVID19. For this reason, as Dent Effect, we propose to take care of our personal health, starting with oral and dental care, and we would like to remind you once again what needs to be done:

• Make sure to thoroughly clean your mouth and teeth at least 2 times a day, once before going to bed at night.
• Continue brushing your teeth for at least 2 minutes until you are sure you have reached all parts of your mouth.
• Use an interface brush or dental floss for proper tooth cleaning.
• You can choose a soft toothbrush for more effective brushing.
• Be sure to clean your tongue.
• Brush your teeth in light circles, do not miss the tip points and wisdom teeth.
• When you are finished brushing, rinse your mouth with a mouthwash. Consult your dentist about the use of mouthwashes and mouthwashes and determine the most suitable product or method for you.
• Change your toothbrush once a month.
• See your dentist routinely at a jointly determined period.
• Have your teeth cleaned at regular intervals.
• If you discover your habit of clenching or grinding your teeth, discuss the situation with your doctor without damaging your tooth enamel.
• Take care of your eating and drinking habits. Be careful when consuming hard-shelled, sugary, sticky or acidic foods.
• If you do not have the opportunity to brush your teeth after meals, you can drink water or rinse your mouth.

It is important that the care is sustainable for your oral and dental health. Take care not to disrupt your routine dental checkups, and to be sensitive to your teeth in your daily care and eating and drinking consumption.
